The deadline was May 31, 2014, and the announcement of awardees is set for June 30. Projects must engage researchers affiliated with research institutions in different countries and encompass areas such as the human and natural sciences, engineering and medicine. The coordinators of the selected pre-proposals will be invited to take part in a workshop in Germany in September 2014. The results of the final selection will be announced in April 2015. The Transformations to Sustainability Program promotes international cooperation in research on global sustainability, through knowledge networks on biodiversity, climate change, food security, and other topics. The ISSC is one of seven international organizations that constitute the Science and Technology Alliance for Global Sustainability, an international initiative for interdisciplinary research. In addition to the ISSC, the Alliance includes the Belmont Forum, a group of institutions that support global change research. FAPESP, a member of the Belmont Forum, is one of the institutions involved in the ISSC initiative.
