Marco Antonio Zago reappointed FAPESP president

Marco Antonio Zago, president of FAPESP since 2018, was reappointed to a three-year term, with Carmino Antonio de Souza as vice president. Zago is a physician and professor emeritus at the University of São Paulo (USP), where he served as vice dean of research (2010–2014) and dean (2014–2017). He was president of the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq, 2007–2010) and director of the Brazilian Academy of Science (ABC). Carmino Antonio de Souza is a hematologist-oncologist and a professor at the School of Medical Sciences of the University of Campinas (UNICAMP). He was head of the Campinas Blood Center (1988–1993 and 2006–2012), São Paulo State Health Secretary (1993–1994), Campinas Health Secretary (2013–2020), and executive secretary of the São Paulo State Government’s Department of Science, Technology, and Innovation (2022) (Agência FAPESP, October 4).
