Networking among agencies

Daniel BuenoOn April 15, the Belmont Forum and FAPESP called for proposals related to research projects on global climate change. The Belmont Forum is comprised of a number of leading funding agencies, among which is FAPESP. The objective of the Forum is to influence international collaboration efforts in multidisciplinary studies in this field. The call for proposals focuses on two themes: water safety and coastal vulnerability. FAPESP will allocate the equivalent of up to € 1,5 million to fund research projects on water safety and up to € 1 million for research projects on coastal vulnerability. Each proposal is required to include significant contributions by scientists from at least three countries that participate in the Forum. Researchers linked to public or private higher education institutions and research institutions in the State of São Paulo may submit their proposals by July 20. The interested parties must comply with the rules specified in the site of the Belmont Forum. In the case of researchers from the State of São Paulo, the selected proposals will get funds for periods of up to five years, depending on the FAPESP modality to which the proposal is linked, as follows: up to two years for Regular Aid for Research Project and up to five years for a Thematic Project ; up to four years for the Young Researchers in Emerging Centers Programs.
