New members of the Academy

On November 27, the Academy of Sciences of the state of São Paulo (Aciesp) held an induction ceremony for 97 new members, including José Arana Varela, CEO of the FAPESP Executive Board and professor at the Chemistry Institute of the Universidade Estadual Paulist (Unesp), and Hernan Chaimovich, coordinator of the Research, Innovation and Dissemination Centers (RIDC) at FAPESP and professor at the Chemistry Institute of the University of São Paulo (USP).  Vanderlan Bolzani, member of the coordinating committee of the Biota-FAPESP program (Brazilian Biodiversity Research program) and director of the Innovation Agency of Unesp, and Dora Fix Ventura, vice-president of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC), were also inducted. Glaucius Oliva, president of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and coordinator of the Center for Structural Molecular Biotechnology, another FASPESP RIDC, Elson Longo, director of the Multidisciplinary Center for the Development of Ceramic Materials, also an RIDC, and Paulo Artaxo, member of the Coordinating Committee of the FAPESP Global Climate Change Program and professor at the USP Physics Institute, also joined Aciesp.
