With a scheduled launch date of March 18 2016, the Open Books Website of the University of São Paulo (USP) will introduce works by university faculty in open-access format, i.e., freely accessible to anyone via the Internet. The website will initially provide access to 40 books and technical manuals covering a variety of disciplines—including public health, dentistry, and communications—and made available through the USP Integrated Library System (SIBi-USP). “We were already aware that many USP professors publish books that are available through open access, but their reach is limited,” says USP Journals Website coordinator André Serradas. “The purpose of the site is to serve as a repository for coordinating and facilitating the dissemination of this output.”
