Rudá de Andrade dies

Writer and cinematographer, Rudá de Andrade, died on January 27 at the age of 78. He was recovering from surgery on his femur when he had a heart attack. The son of writers, Oswald de Andrade and Patrícia Galvão, ‘Pagu’, Rudá did a cinema degree in Italy and was the curator at the Brazilian Film Collection in the 1950s. He was one of the founders of the cinema course at the School of Communication and Arts of the University of São Paulo (ECAUSP) and directed the Museum of Image and Sound between 1970 and 1981. In 1983 he won the Jabuti Prize for his book, ‘Cela 3 – A grade agride’ [Cell 3 – The bars attack].
