A new medicine coming from the boldo leaf

A type of boldo leaf common in Brazil, of the specie Vernonia condensata and known locally as alumã, is the latest hope for the creation of a new analgesic and anti – inflammatory. Research carried out in the Oswald Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) proved in test tubes and with laboratory animals the medicinal properties of the plant. Studies show that the use of the plant, besides  not having produced any toxic effect, does not effect the mucous of the stomach and inhibits the formation of ulcers, one of the collateral effects most common with analgesics.
