In October aircraft designed by students from 57 institutions in 15 Brazilian states, as well as from Mexico and Venezuela, disputed the tenth edition of the SAE Brazil Aerodesign Competition in São José dos Campos, in Sao Paulo State.  The Uai Sô Fly team from the Federal University of Minas Gerais was the winner in the Regular Class when it carried a load of 12.20 kg, and the Keep Flying team from the Polytechnic School at the University of São Paulo (USP) was second. For the third time EESCUSP Charlie, from USP’s São Carlos Engineering School won the Open Class, by carrying 19.33 kg, and the Car-Kará Open team from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, was second. In the Regular Category airplanes have a single, standard 10 cc cylinder engine. In the Open Class there is no limit on the number of engines, provided the total does not exceed 14.9 cc. Almost 800 students from 72 teams took part in the competition that was organized by the Society of Mobility Engineers (SAE). The first two in the Regular Class and the first in the Open Class are going to represent Brazil in the SAE Aerodesign East Competition, in 2009, in the United States.
