German program for weather forecasting

MBAR, the Portuguese acronym for the High Resolution Brazilian Model, has begun to work on an experimental basis; it was developed by DWD, the German Meteorological System, and implemented by Inmet, the National Meteorological Institute, with adaptations for Brazilian geography. It is another way of learning, over the Internet (at the address www.inmet.gov.br), if it is going to rain, or what the cloud situation is, the winds and the temperature, a few hours or even a couple of days ahead, with information on the region of interest at every 25 kilometers. By the end of the year, Inmet will receive two supercomputers, the Origin 2000 and the Cray SV1, which should optimize the use of the new program for forecasting the weather.
