Science to build a nation

Cândido Rondon, head of the Strategic Telegraph Line Commission from the State of Mato Grosso to the State of Amazonas (CLTEMTA), which was to build a telegraph line between Cuiabá and Santo Antonio do Madeira (Porto Velho), in 1912. During the incursion through inland Brazil, researchers documented – also in video – the indigenous culture, and the flora and fauna. This effort helped instituting scientific research in Brazil.
