Stimulating innovation in companies

Daniel BuenoFAPESP has announced novelties to stimulate innovative research among São Paulo companies. Two new calls for research, released jointly with the Studies and Projects Finance Agency (FINEP), amount to US$45 million. The first call aims to support the development of products, processes and services by São Paulo firms, in accordance with the FAPESP Small Business Innovative Research (PIPE) rules in all phases of the program. The second will support companies in Stage 3 of PIPE, which is when the firm is carrying out the industrial and commercial development of products. Furthermore, FAPESP will also have two more cycles of submission of Pipe proposals this year, with R$20 million allocated to each of these. Thus, the annual proposal submission cycles have increased from three to four. The maximum project funding per selected proposal increased from R$625 thousand to R$1.2 million.
