Tracked in movement

There are more than 2,000 bass with a curious yellow pin on their back in the Ribeira river basin, which includes the Cananéia estuary on the south coast of São Paulo State. The pin is a marker placed by biologist Domingos Garrone Neto and his team, allowing them to recognize the fish when they are recaptured. Through collection expeditions and with the help of local fishermen, the team investigates how these fish make use of river and sea waters. They have already verified movement between São Paulo and Paraná, two states with distinct laws on bass fishing.
