The article The long search for a cure, published in the April 2022 issue of Pesquisa FAPESP, won first prize in the Print category of the Synapsis Journalism Award, granted in December by the Brazilian Federation of Hospitals (FBH). Written by special editor Ricardo Zorzetto, the text described an experimental treatment developed by researchers from the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) that allowed two HIV carriers to stay free of the virus for six months after they stopped taking antiretrovirals. In addition to this, our series of reports “Other faces of Independence” placed third in the Scientific Communication category of the IMPA’s 2022 Journalism Awards, also in December. Conceived by the magazine’s Humanities editor, Glenda Mezarobba, the special print edition Especial BR 200 Anos featured articles by Christina Queiroz, Carlos Fioravanti, Yuri Vasconcelos, Ana Paula Orlandi, Danilo Albergaria, and Diego Viana. The expanded online section for the bicentennial of Brazil’s Independence includes more than 30 articles, videos, and podcasts.
